Rachel, from the United States, and Mikael, from Sweden, chose the stunning Baja Sardinia, in the heart of Costa Smeralda, as the setting for their dream wedding. It was a day filled with smiles, spontaneity, and genuine moments — the perfect setting for a reportage-style wedding photography story.
My “True Reportage” Method
Rachel and Mikael’s story perfectly reflects my ideal of wedding reportage: a couple who fully lives every moment of their special day without worrying about the photographer’s presence. My secret? I always ask my couples to ignore me and simply enjoy their day. This approach, which I call “True Reportage,” allows me to capture authentic emotions and create images that truly tell the essence of your wedding. Rachel and Mikael fully embraced this philosophy, giving me the opportunity to capture the real essence of their emotions throughout the day.
Getting Ready at Club Hotel Baja Sardinia
The preparations took place at the Club Hotel Baja Sardinia, where Rachel, always smiling, was surrounded by the joyful energy of her bridesmaids. As they danced and rehearsed their routines, my second shooter and I moved discreetly around them, capturing every laugh and spontaneous gesture. Rachel’s natural attitude made everything incredibly easy — all I had to do was observe and shoot.
Moments of Relaxation and Groom Preparations
Meanwhile, Mikael was getting ready with his groomsmen in another wing of the hotel. All dressed in white, they toasted with a cold beer on a sea-view terrace, enjoying a moment of relaxation before the ceremony.
The First Look: A Moment Just for Them
Rachel and Mikael decided to gift themselves an intimate moment before the ceremony, the so-called “First Look,” a romantic tradition very popular overseas. He waited with his back turned, facing the turquoise sea of Baja Sardinia, while she approached him slowly. When Mikael turned around and their eyes met, it was like witnessing a small miracle: surprise, joy, pure emotion. A moment just for them, lived with lightness and spontaneity, almost like a playful game. Moments like these are when I photograph in the way that represents me the most — naturally and authentically.
The Seaside Ceremony at Ristorante Punta Baja
After the preparations, everyone moved to Ristorante Punta Baja, where the couple reunited before heading together to the ceremony area, set right in front of the sea. An incredible setting for an intimate and emotional ceremony.
Intimate Moments: Ten Minutes of Magic on the Rocks
After the “I do’s,” a seaside aperitif kicked off the celebrations. Rachel and Mikael took a short break on the rocks facing the sea of Baja Sardinia, giving me the perfect chance to photograph them in their most natural state: she was radiant, he was relaxed and smiling. Ten minutes just for them, before rejoining their friends and continuing the aperitif.
Dinner, Speeches, and Fireworks
Dinner was filled with toasts and heartfelt speeches from friends and family, followed by an explosive party. And just when no one expected it… fireworks lit up the sea, a special surprise for the newlyweds. The evening continued with wild dancing and pure joy, late into the night.
